The equal rights party of the united states
To the left is the symbol of our party. This seal is very symbolic for us. The rolling hills of red, white, and blue shows our patriotism and the love we have for our country. The rising sun represents the many years we have to come as a great nation. With the promise of the rising sun, we remember the promise of greatness that comes from our freedom in this country. In the right corner are two windmills. These represent our concerns for clean and efficient energy. Also seen in the last white stripe is an agricultural field. This is symbolic of the development of sustainable agriculture in our great country. Last but definitely not least, the word equality stretches across our emblem. Possibly the most important of all, this serves as a reminder to us about our most vital of issues: equality. This party was founded for this very reason and remains to this day a very big advocate of equal rights for all. After all, this is the Equal Rights Party of America.
Our Platform Is As Follows:
Preamble
As the main goal of the Equal Rights Party of the United States, the officers and the candidates supported by this party shall do all possible with the power vested in them to make these United States a better and more fair place for all who live in its confines. The rights of our people come first and foremost and we welcome the diversity that comes with their freedoms. We recognize that every individual within this country, and from outside it, has certain unalienable rights, and we shall make it our duty to protect these rights. We promote equality and tolerance in all we do, as this is the best way to ensure peacefulness in our Nation.
I. Civil Rights
Vital to our platform, are the civil rights our citizens enjoy. We seek to make these rights stronger in order to provide more protection to our citizens. These rights are vital to the health of our country because equality among our people generates a feeling of being treated fairly and therefore our people are happier in our country. A discontented population leads to a weakened government, so contentedness is key to a strong government.
Regarding religion, our government shall not inhibit or advance any religion. All should be viewed equally and the rights of our citizens to practice any of them shall be protected under the law except in a case where a pre-existing law set forth in order to protect another is voided. A total separation of church and state is a rigid view on this subject.
Freedom of speech is strongly supported. It is only hindered during the pre-existing exceptions such as those to protect others. These include circumstances where there is a clear and present danger.
As they are vital linkage institutions where people gain a majority of their information, the media, including television and print mediums, will be held to the standard of truth. Misinformation is punishable by law. As is libel. Their rights hold to the current standards as long as they stay within the confines of the truth.
Our party is calling for a protected right to privacy. One's home is their private property and should be treated as such. We stand for a bill requiring a search warrant for every search and seizure. We also strive to repeal the Patriot Act as is a gross violation of privacy.
Our stand on abortion is pro-choice. Consistent with the current guidelines, Abortion will be legal during the first trimester, the choice of each state during the second trimester, and illegal during the third trimester. It shall always be legal under the circumstance of a medical crisis.
When involving consenting adults (of the age of 18+), marriages shall be recognized for couples consisting of a male and a female, a male and a male, and a female and a female. Along with this comes the same treatment by each state of any married couples. These include the regulation tax deductions and the same civil privileges. No one type of marriage is seen as more or less legitimate than another.
There shall be no discrimination upon race or gender whether in a positive or negative light. No job, school, or any other program supported or funded by the government shall ask the question of sex or race on any application unless it directly relates to the task ahead. Questions and lawsuits pertaining to discrimination whether in a public or private place shall be heard in a court of law and both may be punished accordingly if the case is not found in their favor.
II. Education
The education and subsequent socialization of our young is vastly important to our government. These children will one day grow up and become the new leaders of our country. Their formative years are some of the most important because they shape these children into the men and women that they will become. That this education is up to par, is a valid issue that our party wishes to address.
The quality of the education directly correlates to the quality of the teaching. Teachers must be subjected to training sessions and following these sessions, an assessment on their teaching abilities. The teachers that pass their yearly assessment will be given a pay raise as a reward and an extra incentive to exceed in their workplace. Good teachers will raise the rate of good students.
To enhance the classroom experience, class sizes will be limited as to how many students they are allowed to have. Instead of over-crowded classes and schools, we will build new schools or hire new teachers. This will lower the student-to-teacher ratio and make school a better place for the teachers and the students.
III. Environment
Our well-being depends on our environment. If it becomes unhealthy, so do we. Preserving it for our children in an important issue for our party. We do not undermine the importance of clean water and air and we do not want to ruin it for other generations. This is a problem for today because the damage we may cause cannot be reversed once it is set into action.
Our party is supportive of grants given to better renewable energy sources. This includes the research for new technologies and the implementation of viable and proven methods. We also support grants that improve sustainable agriculture. We view this as a way to improve our environment, as well as our economy, while feeding those in our country. Grants given for these purposes shall be delegated and regulated by a committee set up by our government. This shall be the Environment Regulation Chamber (ERC).
A stricter set of tax increases will be enforced on those corporations who do not follow the new environmental guidelines. Those who are deemed 'environmentally unfriendly' by the ERC shall face a 15% tax increase. If they have not received a 'friendly' label within the next ten years, the rate will become 25% for each year afterwards that they are not a friend of the environment.
IV.Health Care
In order to better care for our citizens, our party suggests a more widely used governmental health care system. Our current system needs to change because many Americans are not ensured and face large bills any time they become sick. It is of our view that a governing body should take care of its citizens, especially in their greatest times of need.
We stand to implement a system of universal health care for all citizens. Starting with a basic plan, all citizens, regardless of pre-existing conditions shall receive health care paid for by their taxes. All must have at least the basic plan provided by the government, but if they please, the citizens may purchase private insurance as well.
V.Economy
Our economy sets the pace of our everyday life. The quality of our lives and the elasticity of our money is dependent on how our economy is faring. Recession hurts all affected and that is what our party will avoid. When the economy is doing well, so are our people and it is our plan to keep it this way.
In order to lower the percentage of our citizens under the poverty line, we shall implement laws demanding living wages. We will repeal minimum wage and instead require jobs to pay a salary that pays a wage that a family can be supported upon.
We will also implement a new tax bracket that bases taxes on the level of income. After deductions, each income group shall pay a slightly larger percentage than the group below them. There shall be absolutely no tax breaks given to the upper class simply because they make more. They will pay their proportionate amount.
As far as imports go, there will be a tariff on goods imported from other countries. The country must pay a fee on goods they sell in our country. This is our party's idea for making our goods competitive with those we import, and potentially open our markets back up to where they once were. Businesses that export jobs to other countries shall now pay a fee consistent with the multitude of the shift.
