Independent American Party
"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution."
John Adams ~ October 2, 1780

Mission:
To promote: respect for life, liberty and property; strong traditional families; patriotism; and individual, state and national sovereignty — with a strong reliance on the Declaration of Independence and allegiance to the Constitution for the United States of America — by petition to God and by political and educational means.

5)Regarding crimes, government and people are held to the same standards.
6)Bill of Rights freedoms should NEVER be infringed.
7)The American Republic invites prosperity.
8)Socialism is an unconstitutional power-hog and it takes away the right to private property.
9)Taxes are all set at an impartial rate.

Platform:
1)Judeo-Christian Heritage: They believe that America was founded on a Judeo-Christian belief and that their God is the 'right one.' No separation of church and state.
2)Family: Belive in a strong family unit, and that the government should not intrude unless absoultely necessary. Marriage is between a man and a woman ONLY.
3)Citizenship: Strong patriotism and they are against all desecration to the flag. Strongly for civic duties such as volunteering, informed voting, political participation, etc.
4)Unalienable Rights: Life-equal protection of the unborn, i.e. no abortion. Liberty-yes to guns, people can sue the government when they take their rights, even in times of war, natural disaster, etc. Property-Goverment can't take property on basis of taxation, they can only buy land from people if the land is to be used for legitimate public use, not urban renewal, environmental protection, or historical preservation. There can never be search and seizure without due process.
5)Education: Education based off religion, teaching of the bible and abstinence. Non-governmental schools are preferred. They would like to abolish the U.S. Dept. of Education.
6)Economy: They want to eliminate government interference with free enterprise. They don't want wages set, they want to eliminate OSHA, and they favor right-to-work laws. They want to eliminate the IRS and repeal the 16th amendment.
7)Society: They don't think the government should have entitlement programs. They think welfare is the problem of first the family, then the church or other charities. They want to phase out of social security. They don't agree with gambling, drinking or drug use. With crime, they think criminals should work to help pay for their jail stay and maybe even restitution to their victims. Capital punishment is okay when justifiable.
8)Natural Resources: They want a balance between development and conservation. They want to get rid of the EPA and leave environmental protections with local/state governments. Concerning energy, they support safe alternative energy sources and the efficient use of current sources. They want to give incentives for furthering new energy sources instead of pollution penalties, more advances in technologies to stop air pollution, lower demands for foreign oil, and local incentives for better energy sources.
9)US Constitution: They want a representative Constitutional Republic instead of a Democracy. Want to get rid of 17th amendment and executive orders that pertain to the people.
10)Government: Want a smaller government and one based in faith. Bigger state governments.
11)Defense: US forces cannot be put into combat without justification to Congress and they cannot be commanded by the UN. Oppose drafts. Oppose anti-terrorist legislature that has diminished some of our rights. (Ex: Patriot Act) Oppose the establishment of foreign bases in the US. Want to demand the return of the Panama Canal.
12)US Sovereignty: They want the US to withdraw from the UN and any other treaties that doesn't directly strengthen our independence. They want us to keep to ourselves and worry only about ourselves.

This party is a remnant of former Governor of Alabama, George Wallace's once powerful party. It established chapters in 15 states and has contacts in all states now. It mainly has power in Utah though. This party endorsed the 2000 presidential nominee for the Constitution Party. Their focus is now more on activism, rather than submitting candidates, so they really can't hold office. This is why this party is not a very big national contender.
